Furthermore, he really likes having regular connection with friends and the elementary-age students who serve as both role models. Finally, as a parent, I can not stress enough the benefits that the system like Montessori offers with regards to life skills. All students are expected to be responsible for their personal care in addition to maintenance and cleaning of the class and food places. While service is provided by adults and older children, even young children can learn to tidy up after themselves. It has truly had a direct effect o-n my sons willingness and ability to help in the home. Recently I com-pared preschool experiences with a friend whose child is completing her second year in what a lot of people consider to be the top preschool pro-gram in our area. We com-pared our kids skills towards the record provided by our school district of 60 skills (including cognitive skills, sequencing and listening skills, language skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and social/emotional skills) that will assist kids transition into kindergarten. My child has all 60 skills while her child lacked skills in each one of the areas.
